Atmospheric Perspective Assignment

Description

I don't know why the photo ended up being so tiny. But oh well. I'm sorry I keep boring you guys with class homework instead of my own personal art but as I explained to :iconbryar33092: and :iconpoisonousscones: I just haven't been able to draw anything worthwhile. I still have school, family keeps bugging me and just personal issues that I can't draw everyday and the little I do is just practice and looks like crap

So I got this back today after working on it the whole week as part of our weekly assignments. YES I do paint with acrylics but I don't know any advance techniques for blending just opaque painting. So for this assignment we were supposed to draw an object multiple times as it recedes into space as an atmospheric perspective exercise. So I chose to do the Easter Island statues or whatever you call them. To give the illusion of depth I made the statues smaller as they went back and made each one lighter and greyer as they recede further back. Same with the sky and grass.

As a person who doesn't normally paint, I'd say I'm actually quite proud of this. I spent a lot of time mixing the colors to get them right and my teacher even made that observation when he handed this back to me. I feel proud just a bit ^-^

Yay perspective. I cannot tell from the picture, but where is your vanishing point for the perspective? I tried using a knife to find it and didn't succeed..

I do like the cell shading, except I believe something could have been done with the sky to add a little more depth to it =\
